STRATEGY OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Regional policy and territorial development of the Slovak Republic is regulated by the basic documents of middle-term strategic planning:

Conception of Territorial Development in Slovakia 2001

         National Plan for Regional Development of the Slovak Republic
         Regional Operational Plan
         Sectional Operational Plan
         Program of Economic and Social Development of the Region
The strategy of development for the Žilina region is elaborated in accordance with the above mentioned documents and reflects the basic principles and tasks of the territorial development in Slovakia.

 

DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES AND TASKS THE ŽILINA REGION
strengthening the economic base of the region, increasing the export efficiency and competitiveness of the goods and products produced in the region
support of small and medium entrepreneurs
development of production and services based on domestic sources and internal potential of the region – development of tourism and spa sector
                               - increasing the effectivness of energetics
                               - building and developing industrial parks
                               - effective utilization of domestic sources (natural, geographic, personal
                                  potential)
long sustainable development of rural areas and agriculture
development of the technical and social infrastracture:
                               - providing transport connection of the rural areas
                               - connecting to the transeuropean motorway nets
                               - increasing the technical quality of motorways
                               - development of the social care and health care within the region
                               - development of the educational system
protecting and enhancing the quality of the environment
